  1. Nietzsche, Artistic Intoxication, and the Collapse of Nihilism: The body As an Ontology of Practice Posted By : Ngor
Friedrich Nietzsche conceptualizes nihilism as our reaction against a repulsive cultural order that has turned ugly, that is, culturally and spiritually disfigured by a process in which the modern subject loses its faith in values traditionally seen as universal and objective. He conceptualizes the human body as an effective approach to mitigating and reversing the impact of nihilism, especially when the bodys transfigurative powers structure the human will. The body, in Nietzsches conception, plays a central role in artistic creativity, for artistic intoxication is crucial to any forms of artistic expression, and the body constitutes the main force that gives intoxication its pertinence. We should listen to the language of the body because in its artistic, intoxicating manifestations, we can find a powerful model for reforming and elevating our practical lives: the qualities of affirmation, beauty, joyfulness, and self-awareness observable both in the transfigured self and in transfigured becoming require the agency of the body as the motor behind a creative will.

  2. Is Reality A Perception Or Truth? Posted By : lancelot
In order to explain this basis of thinking, one must first consider one's position. Obviously, understanding plays a great part in perceiving the basics for comprehending the experiences in life. If life is only a perception then what is that not perceived? I cannot form a conclusion of that which I don't know or experience.

  3. The Question of Truth Posted By : Sarah Martin
It is the claim of critical realism that it can suggest an evolutionary naturalism for which consciousness and the functioning brain can be thought of as continuous and one natural whole by reason of this difference in our knowledge of them. Mental contents are intuited, the brain is not.

  4. Specific Human Knowledge Posted By : Sarah Martin
The striking difference between knowledge of the physical world and knowledge of the contents of other minds requires emphasis. Both are cases of claims to knowledge of something extramental, that is, something outside of the particular knowing mind.

  5. Physical Reality and Our Knowledge Posted By : Sarah Martin
We think physical reality in terms of our knowledge of it. It is this thinking physical reality in terms of our knowledge which the reference of our knowledge to reality means. We are confined to knowledge since we cannot intuit physical reality; but we have given concrete reasons for our belief in the correspondence of datum and object.

  6. Universals in Knowledge Posted By : Sarah Martin
One of the main contentions has been the desirability of setting up a critical notion of what knowledge of the physical world actually is. It is hard for mere mortals to comprehend the physical world because they become distracted by lifes small trials and tribulations. To understand the general concept of knowledge takes much focus and motivation.

  7. Consiousness of Physical Existence Posted By : Sarah Martin
Within consciousness, we are acquainted only with contents; but what is to prevent us from regarding these contents as material for the knowledge about the physical existents which we continue to affirm? What necessity is there for holding that all knowledge terminates on sensory contents? That is a sophisticated view which results from analysis and the abstraction from the meanings and attitudes of common sense.

  8. Idealism and Agnosticism Posted By : Sarah Martin
Who can deny that reflection partly finds present, partly extends, the distinction between the realm of consciousness as a field of contents and processes somehow connected with the organism, and the acknowledged world of which any such organism is only a part? Patient reflection only develops this contrast. The actual content of all intuited objects turns out to be subjective. It is personal, bound up with a particular organism. In a word, it is what we are accustomed to call psychical.

  9. The Epistemology of Evolutionary Naturalism Posted By : Sarah Martin
The mistake of physical realism in the past has lain largely in this impatient passage from knowledge to reality. Knowledge is, of course, a fact but it behooves us to discover what kind of fact it is, what its materials are, and what processes are involved.

  10. Objects of Knowledge Posted By : Sarah Martin
Common sense view of knowledgeat the stage of common sense, knowledge is on the whole regarded as an intuition by the percipient of the things about him. He is aware of them; they are open to his inspection; they enter and pass from his field of experience.

  11. Behind the Language of Numbers Posted By : Xyle101
Numerology when used in the right way unleashes someone from perceived limitations and pushes someone to the best he can be. Knowing the weakness, alerts a possible action to alter this into strengths. The use of numerology depends on the person. Either one uses the positive traits or ignore it. Either one notes the negative trait and develop it to a positive one or the reverse. The end of it still lies on the person.
